artist statement‘: ‘fiction pre-haunts thought like fog precedes a cold morning’. Through sustained research projects my practice explores the role of fiction as a technology of transformation, and how the imaginary transgresses its unreality through the media, communication and narrative technologies of its times. Using expanded approaches to moving image, live events, collaborative processes and writing, my works tell stories of weird encounters and emergent phenomena and their strange implications within our cultural and socio-political lives, often looking to the edges to try and better understand what’s really at the centre. These might be the myths enmeshed in supposedly national landscapes, the ghosts which haunt our personal devices, capital’s eerie agency and most recently the waking dream space of the internet; its hysterias and anxieties, folklore and fauna.
