A workshop exploring accessible browser based generative AI tools through the complex and contradictory proposition of these AI tools as forms of folk instruments, with their products forms of folk art, derived from A.G. Cook’s positioning of the laptop as the folk instrument of contemporary music. Through the workshop participants were introduced to browser based AI tools in order to generate material in response to a ‘prompt’ narrative, Jorge Louis Borges’ short story The Fauna of Mirrors.
